The Ratchet Clutch is used in conjunction with the Brake and Accelerator to enable a double leg disability to drive a manual car. The ratchet clutch also allows the driver to drive on a biting clutch when the circumstances require this, for example hill starts, reversing, etc. The full conversion gives the driver more scope of vehicles to drive, as certain cars are not offered with an automatic gearbox.
